On October 1, 2014, the Oakland County Mental Health Authority initiated a six percent cut in Medicaid funding to agencies serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

The Forum will explain the impact of the cuts on providers and those with IDD. For MORC, the cuts initiated on October 1 totaled $7.5 million. For Oakland CLS, the cuts were $800,000. Many of these cuts were passed on to residential and vocational providers.

In addition to the Medicaid cuts, there have also been reductions in General Fund dollars, which impacts respite care and unlicensed respite camps.

This forum will help you understand better the impact of the cuts and ways to advocate for more money for Oakland County’s IDD population.
