Each year, The Arc of Oakland County proudly hosts the Dove Awards, to recognize the efforts of individuals within our community that have enhanced the lives of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. This annual fundraiser is a celebration of the compassion, service, and achievements of those who make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

FAR Therapeutic Arts & Recreation–2026 Creative Empowerment Award Recipient

For 75 years, FAR has been opening doors for individuals with disabilities—creating a place where everyone is welcomed, celebrated, and encouraged to shine. Through programs in music, art, dance, and recreation, FAR empowers individuals to explore their creativity, build confidence, and discover their unique talents.

Adam Fuhrman–2026 Inspiration Award Recipient

Adam is a Peer Mentor Coordinator at Easterseals MORC and a board member of Oakland Community Health Network. He develops programs, trains peer specialists, and provides guidance with empathy, expertise, and lived experience.

Living with cerebral palsy, Adam connects deeply with those he mentors, offering practical support and inspiration on accessibility, care, and life planning. Colleagues and clients praise his patience, positivity, and openness—making him a trusted role model. Through leadership, advocacy, and training, Adam empowers people with disabilities to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Tara Deneau–2026 Teacher of the Year Award Recipient

Tara’s efforts inspire students through fun activities and learning opportunities, and she has expanded her impact through the Inclusion Club, adaptive PE class, and a unified gym and basketball team.

Tara’s dedication brings joy, meaningful experiences, and a culture of compassion and respect to her school community.
